Cygnus escaped with his brother, but only bearly. now his pod is out of fuel and he's drifting in space. his race is en route to earth to overtake them and force them to mate with his race but his brother tried convincing him that is the wrong thing to do. and now he's drifting, hibernating.aura is alone on her ship and it's AI. nothing is wrong until suddenly all hell breaks loose and she has to make some on the spot decisions. the ships computer has found a pod in space and at the same time detected an space pirate ship. trying to escape she manages to load the pod unto her cargo ship but fails to escape the pirate ship.
when she quickly investigates the pod she didn't suspect to find a huge purple looking dude with ears on top of his head and no clothes on. when the pod stirs to live and opens up, at the same time waking up the purple dude, aura can't get over the fact how tall, huge and handsome he is (in all places *wink*).
the dominant behavior in cygnus would get on my nerves real quick if it wasn't for the fact that aura doesn't take his crap for granted and even uses his code of honor against him (she's tricky like that that). he proves more then once he's one hell of a fighter, in both his forms : marauder and bear. they manage to escape the pirate ship and manage to land on mars, the planet where cygnus' brother was last detected. but things just can't ever go smooth. the pirate captain has managed to make them the most sought after couple and it's with hard battle and great cunning they manage to escape and look for his brother.
the dialogue between cygnus and aura is just to die for, his internal voice a hoot to boot. this is really what made the story stand out. he really has his own way of thinking but you see it change as the story develops and he starts to see things for what they really are, not for what he's learned in the past.
a wonderful, outstanding, captivating and humorous read!

3 & 1/2 stars...For whatever silly reason, I enjoyed this book, I read it when I was needing something to lighten my mood, after a bad day. It did the trick. This is a light & silly read, that doesn't take itself too seriously. Come on now, he's a 7 foot tall alien -purple bear shifter exhibitionist with a teal vibrating self lubricating dick and in human form has bear ears on top of his head! He's also got a cave-man mentality. I can't imagine anyone would take a purple bear seriously, let alone with the rest of that stuff! LOL "PLEASE!" & "I see you!" Funny part, I never read anything if he had a good looking face, only that in human form he was totally buff/hot. And his bear ears seemed like comic relief to his hunky body. Yes, the book was in dire need of editing, there were definitely plot holes, the insta-relationship between Aura & Cygnus does not really show love, but for whatever reason, it was fun & silly to me. I think the sex was what the story was meant to be about, the rest was filler. But the teal flood of come, that he had to actually turn off -to stop, was way too much...LOL
This was different then I thought it was going to be. Not really in a bad way, just in the way that so much was going on, that it was hard to keep up and remember everything. I really liked how strong of a character Aura was. She didn’t shy away from the action and stood up for her self.
Cygnus was a different kind of alien but I found that I loved that about him. He was alien and shifter so that added a dynamic to the story that I’ve never read before. The secondary characters were great, there weren’t many that we see a lot of, but the few, mainly Jin, I really liked.
My main issue was how confusing the first half of the story way. I felt that everything was happening so fast I couldn’t really connect with everything. It was unique, which I love, but I felt the story as a whole had way to much going on for how short it was. I’m still undecided if I would be willing to read more in this series, but it does have me curious. 3 Stars #2OCCJD

I adore science fiction and can't live without a daily dose of romance but give me both in one great story and I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Aya Morningstar has done....and done it well. Margaret Cygnus is a well crafted, well edited, fast paced standalone novella with a tug at your heartstrings happy ending. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is well executed and flows smoothly. I fell head over heels for the two protagonists of the story, handsome purple alien Marauder bear shifter Cygnus and smart, sassy, beautiful human scrapper Aura. I felt they complemented each other brilliantly and truly enjoyed their banter and interaction. This may have been my first time reading Aya Morningstar but it certainly won't be my last! No spoilers from me but I will say this...Seven foot tall purple alien space warrior/bear shifter searching for his brother but finds his mate instead-check! Beautiful, spunky space junk trader (scrapper) from Earth trying to scrape by, locate her sister and hopefully stay out of the war between Mars and Earth-check! Space pirates, dangerous raiders, a fleet of alien Marauders and an inescapable war-check! Humor, Hijinx, heated attraction, fiery passion, sweet romance and dreamy sex-you bet! That and a whole lot more! If you enjoy science fiction filled to the brim with danger, action, adventure, passion, romance, dreamy sex and great characters, then this is most assuredly the book got you. This is not rocket science nor is it a Pulitzer prize winner but it is a quick, easy and entertaining read. Great entertainment and an awesome read!
